How to connect GoHighLevel / Lead Connector to MailReach

Before you begin: what you’ll need

In GoHighLevel you’ll need SMTP credentials for the sending domain (or sub‑account) that you will use for your cold‑outreach/warm‑up.

  • GoHighLevel provides a way to generate SMTP credentials under Sub‑account Settings → Email Services → Dedicated Domain → SMTP Settings. Access the Article here
  • Note: Although GoHighLevel has its “LC Email / LeadConnector Email” product, when you want to use a third‑party warm‑up tool (MailReach) the key is custom SMTP credentials that MailReach can connect to.

You’ll also need a mailbox accessible via IMAP (that is: an “inbox” where replies land) because MailReach uses IMAP to monitor inbound responses (which is critical for its warm‐up and sender reputation logic).

  • You can create a Gmail/Google Workspace or Outlook/Office 365 mailbox for this, or use an existing one where replies are going.

Make sure your sending domain (in GoHighLevel) has proper DNS/authentication (SPF, DKIM, etc) so sending through SMTP doesn’t immediately land in spam. GoHighLevel has best‑practices around this. HighLevel Support Portal

1. Retrieve SMTP credentials in GoHighLevel

  1. Log into GoHighLevel and navigate to the Sub‑account you will use.
  2. Go to Settings → Email Services (or SMTP & Mailgun Service)
  3. Under “Dedicated Domain / SMTP Settings”, click Create New SMTP User and generate a username + password for that sending domain. HighLevel Support Portal+1
  4. Record the SMTP settings:
    • SMTP server (hostname)
    • SMTP port (often 587 or 465)
    • Username (often the email address or user you created)
    • Password (the SMTP user password you created)
    • In GoHighLevel, you may also need to mark this provider as “Default” for that sub‑account. HighLevel Support Portal

Optionally: test sending from GoHighLevel using that SMTP provider to verify it works (for example send a test email to yourself). gohighlevele.com

2. Set up the IMAP mailbox

1. Decide which mailbox will receive the replies to your outreach emails.

This could be a Gmail/Google Workspace account, or Outlook/Office 365, or another provider that supports IMAP. We recommend Gmail / Google Workspace.

2. For Gmail / Google Workspace

  • Ensure 2‑Step Verification is enabled for the account:

  • Create an App Password (required when using Gmail with IMAP/SMTP from third‑party tools).

3. Record these connection details for the mailbox:

  • IMAP host (e.g. imap.gmail.com)
  • IMAP port (commonly 993)
  • IMAP username (the mailbox email address)
  • IMAP password (the App Password if Gmail, or mailbox password)

This mailbox will be connected in MailReach so that replies from your campaign senders are captured and threaded. MailReach emphasises the IMAP connect step: “Your IMAP information are the credentials of the inbox where the replies of your recipients land.” MailReach Helpdesk+1

3. Connect everything in MailReach

Now you switch to your MailReach dashboard. The goal: tell MailReach your sending SMTP provider (GoHighLevel SMTP credentials) and your mailbox IMAP credentials.

Step A: Connect SMTP in MailReach

  1. In MailReach, go to Connect Account → Any other with SMTP (or “Custom SMTP/IMAP”).
  2. Fill in the fields:
    • Sender First Name & Last Name
    • Email address (the sending address you’ll warm)
    • SMTP host (server)
    • SMTP port
    • SMTP username & password (from GoHighLevel SMTP credentials)
    • Plain: leave it like this. It covers 99% of cases.
    • Check the box Use SSL/TLS if your port is 587. If not, don't check it.

Step B: Connect IMAP in MailReach

  1. You'll then be asked for IMAP connection details (the mailbox you prepared).
  2. Enter:
    • IMAP host (server)
    • IMAP port (for Gmail it's usually 993)
    • IMAP username (the mailbox email address)
    • IMAP password (for Gmail it's the App Password, not the password of the mailbox)

4. Additional key configuration

  • Reply‑to / Forwarding: In GoHighLevel under Settings → Email Services → Reply & Forward Settings, you can set a “Forwarding Address” so that replies to your sent emails are copied/forwarded to your IMAP mailbox. This is important: if replies do not go into the mailbox you connected to MailReach, then the warm‑up will not fully succeed. HighLevel Support Portal
  • Domain authentication: Ensure SPF, DKIM (and DMARC) are configured on your sending domain. GoHighLevel’s Email Sending Guide emphasises these for landing in inbox rather than spam. HighLevel Support Portal
