How to connect a Gmail / Google Workspace account to MailReach with an App Password

Summary

First you have to turn on the 2-Step Verification in your Google account.
Then we'll make sure that IMAP is enabled.
Once 2-Step Verification is ON and IMAP enabled, we'll guide you to create an App Password (a password dedicated to MailReach).
And that's it, you'll then be able to connect your inbox to MailReach.

Step 1 : Enable 2-Step Verification in your Google account

Instructions

Login to the Google account, click on the Avatar in the top right corner and then click on Manage your Google account.

In the navigation panel, select Security. Scroll down a bit, under Signing in to Google, click on 2-Step Verification and then Get started.

How to connect a Google Workspace account to MailReach with Less Secure Apps

Important to know

Less Secure Apps are no longer supported for @gmail.com accounts, they're still supported for Google Workspace but will be phased out at a later date. This date is not announced yet.
For this reason, we recommend to connect your Google Workspace account to MailReach with an App Password.

Step 1 : Turn on Less Secure Apps on the Google account you want to connect to MailReach

Sign in to the Google account you want to warm.
Once signed in, go to https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps
Very important, make sure you're on the right Gmail account by clicking on the avatar on the top right. Otherwise it will turn on Less Secure Apps on the wrong Gmail account.
Turn on Less Secure Apps by clicking on the selector.
At that time, Google often triggers security alerts and can block the process. Go in the inbox and check if you have received 'security alert' emails from Google. If yes, open them all and reassure Google by answering "It was me".

Step 2 : Enable IMAP in the Gmail / G Workspace account

First, relax. It's a classic and can happen frequently, especially if you send cold email campaigns.

Google Workspace has automatic rules that auto suspend an email account if it's considered at risk of sending spam or being compromised.

Here are the top reasons of having your User suspended by Google :

The user receives too many spam complaints from other Google users
The user sends too many emails per day
The user's account is suspected to have been compromised

Additional factors that increase the risk of having your user suspended :

Accessing the user's account from multiple different locations and/or IPs
Using insecure third party apps to control the user's account

MailReach is initializing to launch conversations with relevant email accounts to start warming your email address.
It usually takes between 5 seconds and 2 hours to see the first interaction (first email sent or first email received). That's normal, don't worry.
MailReach automatically creates a folder named "To Follow" in your inbox. You should see it if you're on Gmail / G Workspace or Office 365 / Outlook. Each warming email (sent and received) will be stored in that folder.
MailReach automatically hides 99% the warming emails received after several seconds to prevent cluttering your inbox. Summary

To connect your Google Workspace account, you have to grant a Google API access to MailReach in the Google Workspace Admin ('Step 1' below, 1 min duration, easy). If you don't do that and click on 'Sign In with Google Workspace', you will get a Google warning saying "This app is blocked".
Once the Google API access is granted to MailReach, you will be able to connect any mailbox to MailReach by clicking on 'Sign In with Google' ('Step 2' below, 10 sec duration, super easy).
This guide is for Google Workspace (formerly G Suite, professional Gmail), if you want to connect a free @gmail.com mailbox, please follow this guide instead.

How to fix email configuration problems

Explanation

Your email address warmed on MailReach has been detected to have a configuration problem.

As it's on your end, MailReach can't solve it for you but we'll guide you to solve that ASAP.

The symptom is that your email has been detected as not reachable, it has generated at least one error message / a bounce. In other words, when other mailboxes try to send an email to your address, the email bounces back with an error.

This address is not able to receive inbound emails: no replies, limited conversations, not enough warming emails are sent - it reduces the power of MailReach and prevents you from receiving any email.

In most cases it's because of your MX records being misconfigured or the inbox being disabled or suspended.

|| In less than 10% of the cases, it can be a false positive alert because of the type of email bounces detected by MailReach. In all cases, please follow the steps below.

Step 1 - From a different inbox, send a test email to the email address that has the issue.

From a different mailbox (your personal one for example), send a test email to the email address that has the configuration problem
Wait 3 minutes max to make sure the email has enough time to land.
